ENGLEWOOD, Ohio (07/26/10) – Sinclair Community College Learning Centers will host Nashville recording artist Austin Hicks for the college’s first Country Concert: A Countdown to Fall Quarter on Thursday, August 12, at the Englewood Learning Center.
Recently signed to Lick Records, Hicks’ first single, “I Still Pledge Allegiance to the Flag,” hits airwaves on August 1. Currently from Clayton, Ohio, Hicks has been a Sinclair student. He has several other local tour dates this summer before hitting the road on a promotional tour for his first album.
“It’s cool to show people you can be a college student and pursue another dream as well. A lot of students work, own businesses, play music and I know firsthand how hard that can be,” said Hicks. “I live a quarter mile away from the Englewood campus, and it’s the first time I get to play so close to home.”
Hicks will headline the show at the Sinclair Englewood Learning Center on Thursday, August 12. The event starts at 3:30 p.m. with advisors available to help students register for fall classes. Hicks will play starting at 6:30 p.m. outside on the grounds of the Kleptz YMCA at 1150 National Road.
There will be carnival games, food and giveaways, including Sinclair scholarships and YMCA memberships. Attendees should bring their own lawn chairs or blankets. The event is free and open to the public.
