Springfield, Ohio – Knowing the difference the arts can make in a community, in the classroom, and in the lives of children and adults, the Springfield Museum of Art, Arts Interface Creative Group and Wittenberg University will now offer even more dynamic programming as part of the newly dedicated Springfield Center for the Arts at Wittenberg University. The announcement occurred during the art museum’s annual art ball, Aug. 28.
Located at 107 Cliff Park Road, the facility offers a unique opportunity for all entities to work collaboratively to engage the community and campus in the arts. Along with the annual gallery exhibits and events presented by the Springfield Museum of Art and the range of arts-centered classes and offerings.
The Springfield Museum of Art has collected, exhibited and preserved works of art for the benefit of all individuals across generations. “Since its founding, Arts Interface Creative Group has believed that the good of the whole outweighs the good of the one, and that culture initiates economic development change,” said Charlie McFarland, chair of the Arts Interface Creative Group Board. “This new collaborative effort with Wittenberg directly reflects our values and our commitment to this community, and we look forward to extending our current relationship with the university on the Wittenberg Series to develop new opportunities for arts education in Springfield and beyond.”
Joint fall programs between Wittenberg, the Springfield Museum of Art and Arts Interface Creative Group are already in the final planning stages. The first event scheduled is scheduled for Sept. 18 with the opening of the museum’s “Fragile Nature” exhibit featuring the photography of Paul Sartore. A full listing of all the events at the Springfield Center for the Arts at Wittenberg University is available online at www.springfieldlive.com and at the conclusion of this release.
In June 2010, Wittenberg University and The Springfield Museum of Art entered into an agreement enabling Wittenberg to purchase the museum facility. As part of the new agreement, a facility management oversight committee was established, which has been working to ensure that the entire facility is managed in ways that reflect the missions of the Springfield Museum of Art, Arts Interface Creative Group and Wittenberg, while preserving and expanding the unique attributes of all three entities.
