Springfield, Ohio — Wittenberg University’s Center for Musical Development (CMD) is offering fall music classes for children and adults.
Beginning Piano for Elementary Age Students offers piano lessons in a small group setting and the opportunity to learn to read music and musical notation, find keyboard landmarks and play rhythms. Classes for children entering grades 1-6 will meet from 3:30-4:15 p.m. every Thursday between Sept. 2 and Sept. 30, with Tiffany Cary providing instruction.
Beginning Piano Class for Ages 12 through Adult is designed for older students who have always wanted to learn the piano or to resume lessons after several years. The class offers small group instruction to learn to read music, musical notation and rhythms. Classes meet from 7-7:45 p.m. every Wednesday between Sept. 22 and Nov. 10 with Jack McPeek providing instruction. Computer Composition for Middle School Students and Adults is designed for those who want to learn the basics of computer composition. Participants will write a composition and transform it into a professional-looking manuscript. Classes meet from 7:30-8:15 p.m. every Tuesday between Sept. 7 and Oct. 26 in Wittenberg’s state-of-the-art Computer Composition Lab, Krieg Hall Room 401, with Adam Davis providing instruction.
Voice Class for All Ages offers instruction in proper singing techniques, specifically offering insights on how to warm up, use proper diction and breathe to perform songs chosen by the teachers and students. Parents are invited to attend with children and participate in the sessions. Classes meet from 7-7:45 p.m. every Tuesday between Sept. 7 and Oct. 26 in Krieg Hall Room 402, with Nancy Davis providing instruction.
