Saturday, February 25: FilmDayton welcomes Kate Amer – Production Manager and Location Manager with over 25 years of experience. Amer’s recent credits include The Avengers, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island and the FX hit show Justified. At the FilmDayton workshop, she'll cover important topics like: Location Contracts and Insurance; Film Permits; Working with Individual Homeowners, Businesses and Government Agencies; Scouting; Location Responsibilities Before, During and After the Shoot.
Talented location scouts are necessary in the film industry - and very in demand. Aspiring filmmakers, students, photographers and event planners will all benefit from the day; this workshop will help participants learn important skills, get started in the industry and make some great connections. Presented in partnership with the Dayton Art Institute, the workshop is hosted at the DAI from 9 AM – 5 PM (lunch provided) and costs $35 for FilmDayton members and $45 for nonmembers. The next night, on Sunday, February 26, FilmDayton celebrates one of the biggest nights in the industry – The Academy Awards. FilmDayton hosts a casual and fun way to watch the Oscars with friends and fellow film lovers in the industry. At Geez Grill and Pub, 5841 Far Hills Avenue, they will offer food, OSCAR Bingo, a silent auction, and the ceremony broadcast on 14 flat screen televisions. Tickets are available at the door for $10 FilmDayton members and $20 nonmembers. Doors open at 7:30 PM and the show begins at 8 PM.
