In October of 2010, Citi Lookout sponsored the first annual STAND conference with the goal of bringing together women of all ages and of all social, economic, racial and denominational backgrounds with the purpose of taking a STAND - Steadily Taking Action Never Distracted- for the gospel of Jesus Christ in Springfield and Clark County.

There were over 400 women in attendance with gospel singing sensation, Babbie Mason giving a concert to close the evening. It was an event of big city proportions. This year, on Saturday, February 18th, Citi Lookout is excited to announce that all the stops have been pulled out to bring Springfield a conference that encourages women to STAND together with one another on their Journey with the Lord and all of the trials this life brings.

This year’s conference, STAND II: The Journey, features speakers from every season of life, sharing stories of strength, hope and even humor as they are journeying towards becoming the women God has called them to be and offering encouragement to others as they strive to do the same. Upbeat, soaking and soulful worship music provides an atmosphere for prayer and praise that will linger for weeks to come.

This year’s conference is being hosted by Maiden Lane Church of God with a tour guided bus ride through downtown Springfield to the Courtyard at Marriott, where a delectable lunch will be provided. While driving through town, your tour guide will highlight area ministries and organizations in the Springfield and Clark County area, outlining the services they provide to women and their families.

The STAND organizational team is confident that God will use this tour to convince the hearts of hundreds of women the ways in which they can serve their community, taking a STAND by volunteer work and the like. This year, Un Mundo Cafe will set up shop in the foyer for those who would like to enjoy a steaming hot cup of coffee or other beverage during the conference with proceeds benefiting the Children’s Rescue Center of Springfield. Beacon of Hope Boostore will also have a station set up with books and music geared towards encouraging women as they journey through life with their Lord.     In addition, we are enthusiastic about the return of Babbie Mason as blesses us with a concert to seal the day. She is one of the nation’s most popular singer-songwriters with a success laden career spanning nearly three decades, beginning when she, the daughter of a the late Rev. George W. , became a childhood pianist and choir director in Lily Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson, Michigan.

Babbie has been around the world where she has sung on such stages as Billy Graham crusades worldwide, The Crystal Cathedral, The Grammy Awards, and Carnegie Hall. She has been seen before such notorious personalities as Bishop T. D. Jakes, Presidents Carter, Ford and Bush, Lady Margaret Thatcher, Bill Cosby, NBA great, Michael Jordan and comedian, Jeff Foxworthy. Babbie’s credentials include eleven Dove Award nominations and the recipient of two, nominations for the Grammy and Stellar Awards, including nominations for Female Vocalist of the Year and Songwriter of the Year and many other awards to her credit.

Babbie Mason is the author of two books, Treasures of Heaven in the Stuff of Earth and Faith Lift. She is a sought after speaker, concert artist and worship leader for women’s conferences and retreats worldwide. Babbie’s most recent endeavor is a women’s worship event she calls Embrace, in which her love for women is evident as she encourages and teaches mothers, daughters, sisters and girlfriends. It is this very passion for women that makes Babbie an asset to the STAND family. Citi Lookout is humbled to have Babbie share our love for the women of Springfield during this second annual STAND conference.
