The February program of the Springfield Fortnightly Musical Club will be held on February 19 at 2:30pm at Northridge United Methodist Church, 4610 Derr Road. The program will feature the Clark State Choir which is a small ensemble of singers who want and like to sing. The choir will sing all styles of pieces including “Hand in Hand, “Haba na Haba, “Zipadedoda”, and “Down to the River to Pray”. The Clark State Choir is directed by Ms. Faith Pencil who is instructor of voice and piano as well as teaching music appreciation. Faith has been teaching at Clark State Community College since 2000. She graduated in music from Anderson University and then received her master’s degree in voice from The Ohio State University. Ms. Pencil will also perform some art and folk songs as part of the program. Betty Wilkins, member of the club, will do several patriotic readings.
The theme for the Fortnightly program this month is “Swing the Beat” to carry out the year’s theme of “Feel the Beat”. The Program Co-Chairmen for the month are Mrs. Brenda Sweet and Mrs. J. Timothy Blazer. The Hospitality Chairman is Mrs. Brenda Sweet with Mrs. George B. Raup and Mrs. Doris Walker helping with the refreshments. The public as well as all members and their guests are invited to attend the program.
