Urban Light Ministries Seeks to Honor Fathers at Annual Gala

Urban Light Ministries will give several “Fatherhood of Distinction” Awards. 12 winners will be announced September 3, 2010. Awards will be presented at Urban Light Gala on Thursday, September 16, 2010. Each recipient and 3 guests will receive special invitations. The nominating child will read his winning essay.
You can nominate your father based on the critera below. Nomination must be postmarked no later than August 31, 2010.
Purpose:
Honor fathers who are highly involved in their children’s lives.
Eligibility:
Any father or father-figure with at least one child who is a past or present Sonshine Club member is eligible. He must be nominated by his child.
Nomination:
Child writes essay and submits it to Urban Light Ministries, PO Box 3132, Springfield, Ohio 45501.
Submissions must be postmarked August 31, 2010. No exceptions.
An adult other than the nominee may help compose the essay.
Criteria:
200 word maximum expressing:
“My dad deserves to be recognized as a special father because ...”
Special consideration will be given to fathers that have excelled at involvement with his child’s educational, emotional and spiritual enrichment.
The Annual Gala takes place on the Quality Inn on Leffel Lane in Springfield, Ohio. Enjoy an evening of fine dining with guest speaker Rev. Herb Lusk, former pro football player with the Philadelphia Eagles. Lusk is known as the “praying tailback.” Learn about the future of The Sonshine Clubs and honor those who have championed fatherhood in our community. To attend is free, but tickets are required.
