Jackson, Lytle & Lewis Funeral Home, in conjunction with local veterans organizations, the coroner’s office, homeless shelters and police departments, wants to make sure that our homeless and indigent veterans receive the dignified funeral service they deserve.
Jackson, Lytle & Lewis Funeral Home is creating a Homeless Veteran Burial Program that provides dignified burial services for eligible homeless and indigent veterans to ensure they receive the honors in death that their service in life merited.
“We wish to honor these brave men and women with the dignity and respect they deserve,” said Frank Lewis, owner of Jackson, Lytle & Lewis Funeral Home “We will not forget. We will honor their services and we will give thanks for each and every one of them. We will say goodbye with the utmost respect and we will honor their service to our great country and for a job well done.”
Through the program, homeless and indigent veterans who have no family to claim them are identified and provided military burial. Jackson, Lytle & Lewis Funeral Home will provide preparation of the body, transportation, clothing, casket and coordination of the funeral service. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs provides eligible veterans with the opening and closing of the gravesite, a grave liner, a headstone or marker, a graveside ceremony and a burial in a National Cemetery.
