Downtown Sounds Wraps Up Great Season ^Featured

SPRINGFIELD — The Downtown Sounds concert series had its final performance of 2010 this past Wednesday, August 18, at the downtown plaza at City Hall in Springfield.

Mandy Holcomb, talented singer and artist, entertained the crowd of approximately 90 people, under partly cloudy skies with a nice breeze across the plaza.

The Center City Association, along with the Downtown Business Alliance has organized the Downtown Sounds events for three years. The weekly concerts are every Wednesday, 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., rain or shine. A different artist and a different corporate sponsor appear every week. The 2010 Downtown Sounds sponsors are the Clark State Performing Arts Center, Ohio Real Estate Title, Security National Bank, the Fountain on Main, Mela Urban Bistro, Buckeye Sports Lodge, the Red Cross courtesy of Lees Famous Recipe, Seasons Bistro and Grille, First Diversity Management Group and Garrigan’s Office Plus.
Maureen Fagans, Director of the Center City Association, said “The Downtown Sounds concerts were a success again this year. The attendance has grown each year, and we are looking forward to planning the 2011 schedule.”

The Center City Association would like to thank the artists and corporate sponsors for their participation this year. The success of Downtown Sounds has prompted the Downtown Business Alliance to start planning for a Plaza Party, to help bring people that live and work in Springfield back downtown for entertainment as well.
