Volunteers for the Champaign County Chamber of Commerce and Convention and Visitors Bureau install a new barn quilt at Champaign Residential Services, Inc. in Urbana. In foreground, from left, are Dave Bacher, Jeff Tiefenthaler and Don Bauer, and on the lift, Mike Knotts and John Wilson. New barn quilts have been installed at several locations around the county, where they can be seen year round.
Tickets for the 2010 Champaign County Barn Quilt Tour, to be held September 18 and 19, will go on sale September 3 at the Champaign County Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau, 113 Miami St., Urbana.
The event offers ticket holders extra value and variety, with seven featured stops—more than in previous years.
The tour features a loop through western Champaign County to the farms of Dale and Kee Circle, Jim and Barbara Zook, and Pat and Walter Hill. The farms will host quilt displays, garden tours, garden art, antique tractor displays, a farmers’ market and more.
The tour also will include the 25th anniversary celebration of KTH Parts Industries, Cedar Bog Nature Preserve, Underground Railroad and quilt exhibits at Urbana University, and the works of Champaign County artists at the High Street Manor Bed and Breakfast in Urbana.
Tickets also will be on sale the days of the tour at a booth on the southeast corner of Monument Square, in historic downtown Urbana, and at each of the tour stops during tour hours, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, September 18, and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, September 19.
Primary sponsors of the 2010 tour are Robert Rothschild Farm and KTH Parts Industries.
