BELLEFONTAINE- Auto Collision II senior Scott Eversole is putting his knowledge and tools to work for the community while attending Ohio Hi-Point Career Center. Eversole, a high school senior from Benjamin Logan, is part of team of students working on a complete vehicle repair and paint job for a truck used by the Transportation Research Center in East Liberty, Ohio.

According to Eversole, he and the Auto Collision students began working on the truck a few months ago after instructor, Bob Newland, presented the students with the task.

“The majority of what we’re doing is repairing the dents, which includes straightening the metal, sanding and filling and then we also did some rust repairs on the truck,” said Eversole. “We’re also going to be putting a fresh coat of pain on the truck and it should be done by next month.”

The projects Eversole and the rest of the Auto Collision students work on provide the hands-on experience that is essential for job training. “I feel very fortunate to be at Hi-Point,” said Eversole, “I feel prepared for the work force because Mr. Newland prepares me for what I need to do on the job by the projects we work on in lab, like the truck repair for the Transportation Research Center.”
