John Charles Buckhold
John Charles Buckhold, 75, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 while on vacation in Somerset, Kentucky.  He was born on October 7, 1934 in Leslie County, Kentucky the son of Dr. Wilburt W. and Gladys (Caudill) Buckhold.  He served our country in the United States Army.  John was a member of the Northminster Presbyterian Church and Anthony Lodge #455 F.&A.M.  He retired from the Springfield City Schools after thirty years of teaching social studies and mathematics.  John was a long-term member and leader in the Ohio Education Association (OEA).  Following retirement from teaching, he went to work at the Springfield Masonic Temple.  He is survived by his wife, Bea (Noble) Buckhold of Springfield, son, William L. Buckhold of Loveland, two cousins:  Brenda Shank M.D. of California; and Carol Berry of Tennessee; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents.  A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Northminster Presbyterian Church, 400 Villa Rd., Springfield, with Pastor Dwight McCormick officiating.  Friends may call one hour prior to the time of services.  Masonic services will also be held at the start of visitation at 10:00 a.m.  Inurnment will be in the church columbarium.  Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.  The family is being served by the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY.  You may express condolences to the family at www.littletonandrue.com


Florence V. Tackett
Tackett, Florence V., 89, of Springfield Masonic Community went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 30th.  She was born in Pike County, Ohio on December 4, 1920 the daughter of Christopher & Florence VanMeter.  Florence was a devout Christian who loved to sing at home for her family and most of all in the Church choir.  She attended Church of Christ in Christian Union most of her life, lastly at the Woodside Church of Christ in Christian Union.  She was married 5 June 1937 to Johney Tackett in Pike County, OH who preceded her in death in 2004. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers Floyd, Edward, Lewis, Paul & Dale VanMeter; and four sisters Olive & Ethel VanMeter, Mary Humble, and Opal Walls. She was also preceded in death by one son-in-law, Peter Reed.  She is survived by a daughter, Audrey Reed of Akron, OH; three sons & daughters-in-law, Roger & Ruby (Lambert) Tackett of Lathem, OH; John & Sarah (Oyler) Tackett, Robert Tackett and fiancé, Tonda Hendriks of Springfield, 11 grandchildren,  23 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive her. The family wishes to thank the Springfield Masonic Community caregivers and all the in-home caregivers.  The family will receive family and friends on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 from 12 to 2 p.m. at the JACKSON LYTLE & LEWIS Funeral Home- Springfield.  Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Peter Dunn officiating.  Entombment will be in the Rosehill Mausoleum. Mary (Bancroft) Walters

Mary (Bancroft) Walters, 102, of Springfield, died Wednesday, June 30, 2010 in the Springfield Masonic Community. She was born December 6, 1907 in Springfield, Ohio the daughter of the late Charles and Harriet (West) Bancroft, the descendants of early Springfield settlers. Mary was an artist who was educated in local schools, Ohio State University and The Columbus School of Fine Art. She was a member of the Springfield Museum of Art, DVAC, SOFA, National Museum of Women in the Arts, and the Historical Society. Mary was co-owner of the former Display Works Company and was the first president of Charter Chapter ABWA. Married in 1930, she was preceded in death in 1942 by her husband Kenneth Walters, also an artist. She dearly loved her family, painting and classical piano and took pleasure in sewing, quilting, reading, flowers, gardening and bird watching. Mary continued to paint until late December of 2009. She was also preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law Ann and Sam Lamb; her son Christopher K. Bancroft; two brothers and their wives John and Evelyn Bancroft, and Rev. Richard and Marjorie Bancroft. She is survived by her beloved grandchildren, Mary Christie Louise and her husband Ken, Benjamin Bancroft and his daughter Hillary Mary, and Cassandra Bancroft; her step granddaughter Amy Lamb Young and husband Kent, and their three sons Aaron, David and Nathan; nieces and nephews Jacquie and Ronald Grimes, Barbara Bancroft, Richard Bancroft, James R. Bancroft, and Sylvia; many special friends, including Bob Clayton, who was like a member of the family. Per her request, Mary will be cremated and her ashes buried with her husband in Clifton Cemetery. A private memorial will be held at the convenience of the family. Donations may be made in Mary’s name to the Springfield Masonic Community. The family is being served by the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME.
