DON J. HENKALINE
81, formerly of New Carlisle, Ohio passed away Friday August 6, 2010 in Sun City Center, Florida.  He was born April 13, 1929 in Dayton, Ohio the son of the late Stanley & Fern (Hittle) Henkaline.  He retired from Cooper Industry and was a U.S. Navy Reserve veteran.  He is survived by his wife, Alice; son, Richard & Sandra Henkaline; step children, Jeff & Shirley Hunt, Gina & Larry Bobo, Lori & Donnie Rapol; 2 grandchildren, Kristin & Adam Henkaline; 4 step grandchildren, Hope & Josh Cline, Josh Hunt, Tyler Bobo and Cody Rapol; sister, Barbara & Claude Hoops; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Robert Henkaline; a sister, Janet Vickers.  Visitation will be 11- 12 Friday August 13, 2010 in the TROSTEL, CHAPMAN, DUNBAR & FRALEY FUNERAL HOME, New Carlisle, Ohio with funeral services at 12 noon in the funeral home.  Burial will be in Miami Valley Memory Gardens.  Expressions of sympathy may be sent to www.trostelchapman.com


Howard  Michael Bailey
Howard  Michael "Mike" Bailey,  age 66 of South Charleston, Ohio formerly of Cedarville, Ohio passed away Sunday August 8,2010 in the  Springfield  Regional  Medical  Center.  Mike was born September 2,1943 in Ironton, Ohio, the son of Howard and Thelma Bailey of Flatwoods, Kentucky.  Mike was a graduate of Russell  High School, Russell, Kentucky and attended college at Eastern Kentucky University, and the University of Kentucky.   He recently retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 31 years, served in the Army during Viet Nam, was an Elder for 21 years at Selma Worship Center, Selma, Ohio, where his wife Rev. Joyce Bailey is pastor.  He served for 10 years as  Ordained Deacon for the IPCC, and Mike was just not an ?inlaw? to the 115 Lemasters, he was considered a brother.   Mike was married to Joyce Ann (Lemaster) Bailey for 46 years, on January 25,1964 in Greenville, South Carolina, who survives him, along with their children, Michael Anthony (Tony) Bailey and Tina (Adkins) Bailey of Springfield,  Michelle Ann (Bailey) and Kurtis Arnold of Springfield, Ohio.  Grandchildren, William, Jacob, and Bella Bailey.  Sister, Sheila (Bailey) Deborde and William Deborde of Flatwoods, Kentucky.  Brothers, J.P. Bailey and Nancy Bailey of Flatwoods, Kentucky, Dr. Rev. Dwight Bailey and Cathy Bailey of  Flatwoods, Kentucky and Rev. Mark Bailey and Alexis Bailey of Norfolk, Virginia.   Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.  Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday in the Selma Worship Center, Selma, Ohio, where  a  Celebration service will be  held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday in the Selma Worship Center,  8931 Selma  Pike, Selma, Ohio, with  Rev. C. Ed Freshour, and Rev. Rafferty, Patricia C., passed into eternal life at Springfield Regional Medical Center on Friday, August 6, 2010. She was born in Springfield, Ohio on June 28, 1930. She was employed at Eaglewood Senior Community for the past 20 years, where she will be sadly missed by the residents and staff.  She is survived by one son, Mark Rafferty; two brothers, Roger (Joyce) Clemans, all of Springfield, and Wilford (Buddy) Williams of White Springs, Florida; one sister, Connie (Jim) Goff of Springfield; one sister-in-law, Pauline Deselem of Springfield; very special friends and neighbors, Nida and Jim Wilson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Patty was preceded in death by her husband, Francis; a sister, Barbara Clemans; and her foster parents, Clarence and Ester Holland. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 from 5-8 p.m. at JACKSON LYTLE & LEWIS FUNERAL HOME-Springfield, with the funeral service to be held on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. Interment to follow at Somerford Cemetery. Thelma R. Wilson

Wilson, Thelma R., 81, of Springfield, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on Thursday, August 5, 2010. She was born on August 9, 1928, the daughter of the late Charles V. and Ida E. (Weatherbee) Cory. Thelma loved spending time with her family and friends and traveling around the world with her loving husband and occasionally her friends.  She loved her dogs and had a passion for ceramics.  She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Glen T. Wilson; nieces, Jackie Allaway, Judy Toy, Susan Jackson, Judy Walthall, Mary Hill, and Anna Crutcher; nephew, Jimmy D. Rector; brother-in-law, Alvin J. Wilson; and numerous great-nieces, nephews, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Betty Fargo. A gathering of friends and family will be held on Sunday, August 8, 2010 from 2-5 p.m. at the JACKSON LYTLE & LEWIS FUNERAL HOME- Springfield, where a celebration of her life will be held on Monday, August 9, 2010 at 2 p.m. Pastor Tom Harmon officiating. Robert Larney Steele
Robert Larney Steele, 64, of St. Paris, Ohio died Sunday, August 1, 2010 in his home following a 2 ½ year battle with cancer. He was born June 20, 1946 in Columbus, Ohio the son of Harold Lee and Jane (Taylor) Steele. Robert was confirmed January 11, 1959 in St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Columbus. He was a Vietnam Veteran serving eleven years in the United States Army and was Honorably Discharged as a Captain. Robert was currently the owner of Steele Point Gallery in Springfield. He is survived by his wife Rita (Greene) Steele; one son Christopher Mason; three daughters and two sons-in-law Anastasia (Steele) and Dan James, Sara (Mason) and Matt Wagner, all of St. Paris, and Alexandra (Steele) Owens of Plano, Texas; two sisters and a brother-in-law Mary and Tom Callahan of Delaware, Ohio, and Libby Dorn of Shawano, Wisconsin; seven grandchildren Ben, Drew, Arabella, Bekah, Corinna, Hannah and Andy, and an expected granddaughter; one niece Athena Dorn; three nephews Tony, Tim and Jon Callahan. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family will receive visitors Saturday, August 7, 2010 from 10-11 AM. in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. James S. Mihaly, 70, of Springfield went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 1, 2010 in his residence with his loving family by his side.  He was born on March 5, 1940 in Springfield, Ohio, the son of John and Mildred (Kiger) Mihaly.  Jim was a member of Maiden Lane Church of God.  He retired with 40 years of service from Navistar.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Ted A. Mihaly.  His survivors include his wife of 51 years, Shela A. (Shiery) Mihaly; son and daughter in law James B. and Dea Mihaly of Springfield; daughter and son in law Teri and Tom Eichhorn of Beavercreek; brothers and one sister in law John William and Betty Mihaly of Melbourne, FL and Thomas E. Mihaly; sister Carol J. Johnson both of Springfield; six grandchildren Sgt. Marianna Black Kesler

78, of New Carlisle, Ohio passed away Sunday August 1, 2010.  She was born May 15, 1932 in Piqua, Ohio the daughter of the late Herbert & Leolla (Strawsburg) Black. She was in the last graduating class of the 1950 North Hampton School.  She loved her family, only granddaughter and the farm where she was born and raised.  She was a red hot Republican and presiding judge of Clark County for 30 years.  She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, New Carlisle Chapter.  She was an avid card player and active in a local card club with her friends. Marianna is survived by her husband of 57 years, Bruce; daughter, Jill Kesler, son, Eric Kesler and fiancée, Karen Roberts; granddaughter, Crystal Ann Kesler; nephew, Al Strawsburg; other relatives and numerous friends. Blanche M. Fawley
Blanche M. Fawley, 96, of Springfield, passed away on July 30, 2010 in the St. John’s Center.  She was born on March 12, 1914 in Adams County, Ohio the daughter of James and Mary (Swearingen) Hile.  She was a member of First Christian Church and was retired from the Springfield Board of Education.  She was preceded in death by her first husband, Oscar Wiles in 1959, son, Leo G. Wiles, her parents, three sisters, and three brothers.  Blanche is survived by her second husband, Lewis F. Fawley, two ‘step-daughters, Marilyn (Paul) Vance and Connie Robertson, thirteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.  A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME with visitation from 12-1 p.m. prior to the service.  Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.  The family would like to express their appreciation to Community Mercy Hospice, Forest Glen, and the St. John Center for their excellent care.  You may express condolences at www.littletonandrue.com


Alverna E. DeWitt

Alverna E. DeWitt, 89, of Springfield passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2010 in Community Hospital.  She was born in Lawrence Co., Ohio on November 23, 1920, the daughter of Morticue and Lucille (Richendollar) Brown.  Mrs. DeWitt was a member of Maplewood Church of the Nazarene.  She is survived by one daughter and son in-law Sherry and Kim McClenen of South Vienna; two sons and three daughters in-law Johnny, Jr.  “Jack” and Judy DeWitt of Springfield, Ronald and Barb DeWitt of South Charleston and Glenda DeWitt of Springfield; six sisters Ann Blair of Kingman, AZ., Midge Merrell of Apple Valley, CA., Carolyn Boldwyn of Springfield, OR., Betty (Don) Carey, Joan Pennington , and Linda (Lowell) York all of Springfield, OH.; a sister-in-law Shirley Brown of Springfield; ten grandchildren William (Angie) DeWitt, Kelly (Doug) Haney, Angela DeWitt, Shawna McClenen, Chad (Jessica) McClenen, Mandy (Chris) Howard, Johnathon  DeWitt, Tiffany (Jeff) Wilson, Mellissa Metzger and Bobbie (John) Peyton; 19 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.   She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Johnny DeWitt Sr.; a son Errol “Sonny” DeWitt; two brothers F.M. “Brownie” Brown and George E. Robinson, Keith Alan

54, passed from this life and went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 28, 2010. He was born in Dayton, Ohio on October 23, 1955, the son of the late Robert E. Robinson of Winchester, KY and Irene E. Buck of Georgetown, KY. After attending North High School in Springfield he enlisted in the Army, serving for more than three years. Keith called Columbus home for the last 25 years, where he attended St. Patrick Church. He was active in his community and started several small neighborhood business ventures throughout the years. Keith loved his dog, Sparky, loved the outdoors, and loved laughter. He is survived by three brothers, James ?Tony? (Sandi) Robinson of Walnut, California, Henry ?Hank? Rudolph "Rudy" Hampton
Rudolph "Rudy" Hampton, 76, of Springfield, Ohio passed away July 21, 2010.  He was born in West Bend, Kentucky a son of Walter and Lula (Cooper) Hampton.   Mr. Hampton had been employed by the City of Springfield as a Human Relations Specialist; Clark County Board of Commissioners as Personnel Director; Navistar International as an Employment Interviewer; Western Southern Life Insurance Company where he was the first Black Sales Associate hired by W & S as an associate and he held positions with various other companies. He graduated from Kentucky State University and served his country in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged.  Mr. Hampton had been local president, district director, vice president and international president of the Frontiers International; board member of the Center Street YMCA,  the Springfield YMCA, Kiwanis Club, Center City Community Gospel Choir and Ombudsman for Ohio Long Term Care Program.  He was a very active member of Trinity A.M.E. Church where he was a member of the choir, Bible Study Teacher, Steward and chairman of the Black History Luncheon.  Mr Hampton received many awards including, local and international Frontiersman of the Year, Springfield Urban League Citizen of the Year, Phillips Chapel C.M.E. "Man of the Year" and Kiwanis Club "Member of the Year".  His memory will be cherished by his loving and devoted wife, Pinnia Hampton and his children, Rudayus and Rudolph Jr.  He is survived by his brother, Wilson Hampton of Clay City, Kentucky and sister, Evelyn Williams of Winchester, Kentucky.He was preceded in death by his son, Daryl S. Hampton.  Visitation for Mr. Hampton will be Friday 6-7 p.m. in the Robert C. Henry Funeral Home and Saturday from 12 noon-1 p.m.in Pine Grove C.M.E. Church, Clay City, Kentucky.  Funeral services will follow in the church Saturday at 1 p.m.  Burial in Cooper-Hampton Family Cemetery, Clay City, Kentucky.  Arrangements provided by the Robert C. Mildred Duncan

Mildred Duncan, 79 of Springfield, Ohio passed away July 16, 2010.  She was born December 4, 1930  in Springfield, Ohio a daughter of Clarence Frye and Lillian Duncan.  Mildred gave her life to God and was a loving, caring and God fearing mother.  She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Patricia (Louis) Sharpe of Columbus; sons, Richard Fleming of California , Gary (Sheila) Fleming of Springfield and Dean Duncan of Springfield; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Belva L. Yancey and brother, Earl Duncan Sr.  A memorial service will be held Saturday July 24, 2010 at 3 p.m. in the Robert C. Reverend Fred Newsome,88, of Springfield, Ohio, was serenaded and carried by a band of angels across Jordan to be with Jesus on July 18th, 2010, at 4:10a.m. Born the son of Jarvie and Lola Hill-Newsome in Pippa Passe, Kentucky, Dec.14th, 1921. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, James R. Newsome, brothers Tivis and Joe Newsome. One sister Marjorie Newsome-Winnings. Survived by his loving wife Lucille Slagle-Newsome. Sons LeRoy(Vickie) Newsome, Doug(Carmen) Lightle. Brother Charles Leroy and Betty Newsome, of Hurricane, West Virginia. Fred was a member of CCCU, Beacon St. Springfield, Ohio. Also a veteran of World War II and was retired from Bauer Bros., Springfield, Ohio. Corwin “Corky” D. Lawson

U.S.M.C., born March 11, 1954 in Richmond, Indiana.  Died July 17, 2010 in New Carlisle, Ohio after a brief illness.  He is preceded in death by his parents, James R. & Shirley D. Lawson and his nephew, Jimmie J. Carpenter.  He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Helen & Larry Carpenter, his brother and sister-in-law, Ward & Paula Lawson; nieces and nephews, Christopher Carpenter, Nikki, Matthew, Jackie, Katy, Steven and Robby Lawson.  He also had 8 grandnieces and grand nephews.  He was loved by everyone he came in contact with while he worked as an aircraft mechanic.  One of his greatest enjoyments was participating in shooting matches.  He won countless awards for his expert marksmanship.  The viewing will be Thursday July 22, 2010 from 11-1 PM with service to follow.  Burial will follow at 3 PM in Dayton National Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice in his name.  Arrangements by the TROSTEL, CHAPMAN, DUNBAR & FRALEY FUNERAL HOME, New Carlisle, Ohio.  Expressions of sympathy may be sent to www.trostelchapman.com

Rosemary L. Rapp
Rosemary L. Rapp, 81, of Springfield, passed away Saturday July 17, 2010 after a lengthy illness.  She was born October 8, 1928 in Springfield, the daughter of Clarence W. and Beulah (Dennis) Bishop.  Rosemary retired from the F.W. Woolworth Store and worked at the Northridge Pharmacy and Katie’s Hallmark Store.  She was a member since 1986 of Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 1031.  She married her husband and best friend Charles D. Rapp (deceased) on August 9, 1947 and they were married for fifty-eight years.  Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, David and Bonita Rapp of Springfield; granddaughters, Jessica (Kris) Otto of Vanlue, Ohio and Jamie, Melissa and Monica all of Springfield; great-grandchildren, Alivia, Jonathan, Brianna, Shiyan, Lexie and Brendon all of Springfield.  She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Phyllis Bishop, special niece Jo Ann (Harry) Henry of Savannah, Georgia; several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Rapp; brother, Robert W. Bishop Sr.; sister Genevieve Heinzen and parents Clarence and Beulah Bishop.  The family would like to say a special thanks to Dr. Peter J. Muir, Dr. Kurian, her caretaker Tammy Starr with Comfort Keepers and Quality Care Transport.  A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday July 20, 2010 with Pastor Bruce Sigman officiating.  Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Community Mercy Hospice, 444 West Harding Road, Springfield, Ohio 45504 or Davita Dialysis Center, 2200 N. George L. Sanders

George L. Sanders, 61, of Springfield went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 15, 2010.  He was born in Springfield, Ohio on May 18, 1949, the son of George and Mary Jane (Heskett) Sanders.  He served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. George was a retired mechanic and earned his B S degree in religion from the Circleville Bible College.  George was a member of Beacon St Church of Christ in Christian Union, where he carried credentials as a counselor in the Church of Christ in Christian Union. He was a new member of Clark Lodge #101 F & AM, having been raised in the Grand Master’s one day class in June.  He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids, nieces, nephews and “adoptive grandkids”.  George loved the Lord very much and loved to spread the word about Jesus, especially through gospel music.  In his spare time he collected knives, coins, and trains.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Anita, brothers Ed, Harry, and Don Sanders, and son James Robert Sanders.  His survivors include his daughters Shelley (Tom) Stump and Lurline (David) Driscoll; sons Wayne (Amanda), Thomas, and Nathan Roth all of Springfield; sisters Brenda (James) Leach of Trotwood, Clara (Ed) Wilson and Myra (Bill) Dillon both of Springfield; brothers Greg (Patricia) Sanders of Crowley, Texas, and William (Anita) Sanders of New Carlisle; brother in law John (Betty) Bailey of Enon; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.  A celebration of George’s life will be Tuesday at 11:00AM in the Beacon St Church of Christ in Christian Union with Rev.
