Both have been established by the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) a nationwide non‐partisan and non‐profit membership organization representing the top education leaders from every state.

The Northridge Lions Club presented their Ralph Frech scholarships to two Kenton Ridge Seniors at their recent membership meeting. A $2,000 Scholarship was presented to Andrea Paul and 1,000  scholarship to Katie Miller. These students were selected through an application process which included a biographical essay.

Springfield, Ohio – As anticipation grows for the 410 students set to graduate on Saturday, two other distinguished guests are now making their way to Wittenberg to be recognized along with the class of 2012. Philanthropist Virginia Ellis Franta, Wittenberg class of 1936, and Peggy Fox, Wittenberg class of 1967 and retired president and publisher of New Directions Publishing Corporation, will each be honored during the ceremony.

Springfield, Ohio- Local Lee’s owners Scott and Kim Griffith, Lee’s corporate brand manager Chris Rak and 14 of their top managers gathered for the 29th annual spring inspection banquet. “This is a milestone for us, 40 years ago my father began our franchise with Lee’s, fast forward to today and our company is as strong as ever”- stated Scott Griffith to the group. The Griffiths operate three stores in Springfield, Ohio, one in New Carlisle, Ohio and three others in surrounding counties.

Springfield High School junior and senior students will compete on Friday, May 11th in a blood donor drive “Battle of the Veins.” Last year, SHS competed against Centerville High School and received a trophy for their efforts in winning the challenge. Each school has 120 available slots for donors and the school that actually has the most of these slots filled is declared the winner. This year SHS is competing against Sidney High School. The blood donor drive will begin at 8:30 A.M. in the SHS gymnasium, 701 E. Home Road.

Columbus – Senator Chris Widener (R-Springfield), who serves on both the Development Finance Advisory Council (DFAC) and Controlling Board, announced recent funds from the state that will aid the private sector to create 1,245 new jobs and retain 1,073 existing and at-risk jobs.
